Effects of Krill Oil on Exercise Performance

Krill oil is a rich source of the following three fatty acids:

Scientists ran a study to examine the effects of krill oil supplementation on post exercise performance and immune function. The research included 37 healthy young adults, 19 males and 18 females.  The volunteers were randomly given 2g/day of krill oil or a placebo supplementation for a total of six weeks.

Post study, the conclusion was that six weeks of krill oil supplementation can increase PBMC IL-2 production. It was also shown to increase NK cell cytotoxic activity 3h post-exercise in genders. The krill oil supplementation did not modify exercise performance.
